Crowdfunding Success!

3 Apr 2025

Thank you to everyone who donated to our inaugural Crowdfunding campaign – ‘Bringing light, food and water to rural Zambia’.

In a few days, on April 7th, nine of us from the UK are heading out to the country, which is in the early stages of healing after prolonged drought, as part of our Splash Ambassadors programme.

Once there, we will be joined by members of NGO ECHO Zambia and six young ambassadors from One Young World bringing our team to 25.

Our objective is multifold. We will:

  • Establish a bore hole using a manual corkscrew method.
  • Build a keyhole garden with irrigation system.
  • Establish taps at people’s homes.
  • Install a simple solar lighting system for children to be able to read in the evenings.
  • Donate a generator for phone/battery charging.
  • Donate t-shirts, water bottles and footballs.
  • Donate first aid kits.

This is a not-for-profit initiative with participants funding their own trips and with Splash Projects covering the costs of various elements.

Crowdfunder

Our last-minute whip-around raised £375 which will enable us to purchase items we wouldn’t have been able to provide otherwise, including solar lights, footballs and plants, all of which will enhance the quality of life for this local community.

We are also lucky to be joined by a representative from Icon Lifesaver who is donating £2,000 worth of water purification kit including a C1 water purifying system and specialist water jerrycans.

Splash Ambassadors

The expedition will kickstart our Splash Ambassadors programme, giving individuals – including family, friends, colleagues and other groups, for example veterans – the opportunity to take part in an immersive experience and work with the community to create a sustainable future in their areas of need.

Through their expedition, Splash Ambassadors will become agents for positive sustainable change, and the Splash values of purpose, action, impact, legacy.

Our ambition is to inspire change and action at all levels including local and national government and encourage potential sponsors/donors.

The experience will be documented by a Splash photographer and filmmaker.

Can we help with your team building project?
