We are proud to be part of IE Business School’s Purpose Accelerator programme which further invests in its business Master’s students by giving them the chance to experience something truly purposeful.
The university’s ‘Purpose in Action’ experience is a fundamental building block of its ‘Purpose Accelerator’ objective.
On their Splash Project, the students – the world’s future business leaders – get to experience social impact firsthand.
Here, Concepcion Galdon, Vice Dean, Business with Purpose, IE Business School, explains why inspiring their students about purpose is an integral feature of their Master’s programmes.
“It’s absolutely critical for business leaders to have a very strong sense of purpose, first for themselves – all our students, and all business leaders, deserve to go home feeling proud and happy about what they do, knowing that what they’re doing is really aligned with who they are.
“So, if you have purpose, you’re going to be a better and happier professional.
“But it’s also important for the wider world and society.
“Business is a critical stakeholder in this world and every day, with their every decision, business leaders are building the future for all of us. So we must hope that they will be purpose driven.”
“For business, it is very important to have purpose driven professionals because they are more committed to what they’re doing.
“Their work means something to them and is more than just being in the promotions rat race.
“These are not professionals that are going to leave you for a 1% salary increase somewhere else. These are people that are really going to go the extra mile.”
“At IE, we promise our students that we’re going to accompany them during the months they’re with us as they become the next best version of themselves.
“When it comes to your career, your impact, and your purpose, your purpose is critical because it gives meaning to the other two.
“If you are a purpose driven professional, you will have a more successful career and you’ll be able to have a bigger impact in what you do.”
“In order to accompany our students in this process, we have created the Purpose Accelerator; a set of experiences that invite our students to reflect on who they are, what purpose might mean to them, and how to connect purpose with their professional endeavours.
“What the legacy of the Purpose Accelerator programme at IE will be is really up to my students. “It’s an invitation for them to be responsible business leaders who are really committed to fostering a positive change.
“I hope that they will create a habit of always thinking about the purpose in every decision.
“And it is through them that we can change the world. They are our legacy to the world.”
