Step away from your desk and make a difference 

We bridge the gap between the business world and the charity sector, providing the opportunity to companies to make an impact in their communities. 

This autumn, we’ve supported financial services company, Deloitte UK to fulfil its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility through three one-day Splash Projects. 

Deloitte BrightStarts Splash Project, Woodrow House, Buckinghamshire 

Kicking off our partnership with Deloitte was a project with the company’s BrightStarts apprentices. Their Splash Project was the launch of the Deloitte’s first BrightStart community day and involved 30 young professionals from across Deloitte’s BrightStart apprenticeship scheme. 

During their project they created facilities at Woodrow High House in Buckinghamshire, a residential centre used by London Youth to provide outdoor activities and education. They built secure bicycle storage facilities, a servicing shed and the starting area to a mountain bike track built by Splash in 2017. 

The project was part of the Deloitte’s ‘Five Million Futures Programme’ of giving back, and also a way for the apprentices to build connections, friendships and professional skills. 

A spokesperson from Woodrow House, said:

“Having the Deloitte volunteers and the fantastic Splash team on site has taken us one step closer to realising our cycling programme ambitions.” 

Deloitte Walsall, Bentley West Primary School 

We joined forces with a team of around 50 staff who transformed an outdoor area at Bentley West Primary School which had been rendered unusable. 

They reimagined it into a precious space where children with additional needs can now be supported in smaller groups. Features include growing and reading spaces, water and sand play areas. 

Luke Malloy, the school’s Headteacher said the garden will have a “lasting effect on our children for many years”.

“It was really nice to work together as a team and to have met the headteacher to understand more about the impact our project will have on the children’s lives. It’s been a great opportunity to step away from the desk and make a difference.”

“This was a great chance to work together with people you wouldn’t normally work with. There was lots of teamwork going on and thinking through challenges together.

“At Deloitte, we talk about making an impact. And a big part of this is making an impact in the community where we live and work.

“It’s been far more transformational than I ever imagined.”

“It’s so important to set children up to be happy, healthy, fulfilled adults. So, we’ll all go home with a smile on our faces, knowing we’ve achieved something and given something back.” 

Deloitte Cardiff, Grange Pavilion  

Once a vacant bowls club, in recent years the Grange Pavilion has become a top-quality community facility providing affordable hire space and a community café offering employment and training opportunities to local young people as well as gardening and growing space. The National Youth Advisory Service, NYAS Cymru, which supports care-experienced young people, use the space regularly. 

For their Splash Project, the 48-strong Deloitte squad built a sensory walk, a nature trail and a storytelling area, massively enhancing this much-loved facility.  Meanwhile, while giving back to their community, the project enabled the team to network and upskill.
