Mick Jarwood

Programme Facilitator

Mick is a former Royal Engineers Commando and expert in leadership and management training. He enjoyed a successful 25-year forces career, culminating in the role of Army Senior Diving Instructor at the Defence Diving School in Portsmouth. He served operationally in Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia and so is very experienced in managing and executing tasks in austere environments with minimal recourses.

Mick has taken part in construction projects all over the world including Canada, The Falkland Islands, Bosnia and Oman – where he received a Brigade Commanders’ Commendation for his role managing the largest ship-to-shore fuel installation by the UK forces for over 20 years.

An expert communicator with extensive knowledge of management skills, Mick has a Level 4 Diploma in Management and is a qualified supervisor and instructors’ mentor. He has designed and delivered training programmes for leadership courses and has overseen junior instructors who were tasked with delivering the training themselves.

As a fully qualified commercial diver, Mick’s skills are always in demand and he has worked in the North Sea in the oil and gas industry and was a diver on the salvage and recovery of the Costa Concordia cruise ship in Italy. He holds the IOSH Managing Safety certificate and the NEBOSH (National Board in Occupational Safety and Health) General Certificate. Most recently he was as an Operations Manager for a civil engineering company. He is a qualified Ski Instructor and amateur musician playing the guitar to a poor standard!
