Splash Projects in Americas

Splash Projects creates challenging and enriching training programmes tailored to develop teams and individuals through real-life community projects.

Over the last 20 years, Splash has completed ambitious projects for clients across the Americas, improving both collective performance and individual personal effectiveness, changing participant’s lives for the better and leaving lasting legacies for local charities and communities.

We have worked with clients and charities across Atlanta, Iowa, New York, Texas, and Washington as well as Toronto, Canada.

On our projects, participants are invited to strategise, plan and execute in an unfamiliar environment – offering a spectrum of challenges and development opportunities for individuals that are experiencing personal barriers to progression.

Our Splash Project experiences give people a chance to:

  • Develop their key work skills – including communication, planning, project management, leading others, operating as part of a team
  • Learn basic construction skills & start to build a breadth of knowledge within the project management/delivery sector (including Health & Safety etc.)
  • Grow their personal effectiveness, including determination, self-confidence, optimism, persistence, problem solving, time management, etc.

Under the watchful eye of highly-skilled Splash project managers and facilitators, participants deliver excellent, life-changing products; life-changing for the charity and life-changing for the participants too.

Since our foundation, we’ve put over 50,000 people through our project experiences and delivered projects with an extraordinarily diverse range of participants including business school students, senior executives, homeless veterans, families and disadvantaged school children.

BRAMBLES, Atlanta – 2019 and 2018

In 2019, twenty three members of staff from the global supply chain company Brambles built a partly-covered area and benches in just one day, providing a private space for homework and mentoring sessions for the teens at the Salvation Army Atlanta Peachcrest Corps – which caters for 200 young people from disadvantaged circumstances.

In 2018, another team from Brambles completed a Leadership Development / CSR-day. They created a children’s play and family area, including a Loaves & Fishes themed decked seating area, for the Must Ministries Elizabeth Inn Shelter in Marietta, GA. The shelter provides services to 30,000 people annually, meeting both immediate needs (food, clothing, shelter) and longer-term needs (e.g. employment assistance, support groups, etc). It serves nearly 80,000 meals a year from its Loaves & Fishes Community Kitchen, lovingly prepared by civic, church, corporate and family volunteer groups.

BEKAERT, Atlanta – April 2017

A team from the global company Bekaert created a brand new play area for children with special needs in Moultrie, GA.  The company completed the transformation in a single day at the Breathe Ministry, Heritage Church. Bekaert’s team of 45 people built a sensory walkway and play ground as part of their corporate team-building and leadership training.

Breathe is a ministry established specifically for people with disabilities and is a part of the Heritage Church in Moultrie. It began in 2011 and now offers a range of services to support families across South Georgia.  The new play area built by Bekaert gave the Breathe Ministry outdoor facilities for the first time.

“Bekaert has been coming to Moultrie, GA participating in the Sunbelt Expo for over 15 years now,  so we have a special attachment to the town.  This year we decided to have our Annual National Sales Meeting in Moultrie and in doing so it presented a unique opportunity for Bekaert Corporation to give back to the community in a meaningful way.   While we are excited about the project and its local impact, I’m also certain that our Bekaert team members will each take away something from the event very special themselves, that is one of the great things about giving back- often times we gain more than we give.” said Jason Jones.

CGG, Houston – November 2013

Staff from GeoScience company CGG came together for a Splash team building day in Houston and built an interactive castle-themed playground for the children and horses at Sire Therapeutic Horsemanship. Sire’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children and adults with physical, cognitive, emotional, sensory and learning disabilities.

BARCLAYS, New York – October 2012

Forty members of staff from Barclays Bank undertook a challenging Splash Project to create an out door area for Good Shepherd Services, based in Brooklyn New York.

Some feedback from Barclays participants:

  • The belief and confidence I got out of this is tremendous. If people come together for a common cause, great things can be achieved.
  • It was a fantastic experience culminating in a great outcome for a good cause. Great job Splash!
  • Awesome experience bringing people together and great opportunity for us to do our part for the world.

AVIVA, Iowa – October 2011

Team Aviva made a super backyard for 50 kids at Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS) of Iowa. A blank patch of ground was completely transformed into beautiful areas to hangout, eat, talk, play games and relax. This project stood out because the YESS children helped Aviva in the build.

Stephen Quirk, Executive Director for Youth Emergency Services and Shelter in Des Moines, Iowa said: “Splash has had an incredible impact. You have created a place to dream and where the possibilities are endless. This is such a tremendous contribution to thousands and thousands of children… You all served as role models for my staff, me and my kids. You are very real people who care about the kids that we serve.”

Adam Eaton of Aviva, wrote: “Splash Projects are very impressive. They have delivered fantastic projects for AVIVA, often at short notice and frequently overseas. Their understanding of customer requirements, planning and delivery are exemplary. They are particularly effective when dealing with multi-cultural groups in unfamiliar circumstances.’’

AVIVA, Toronto – 2010

A team of 40 people from Aviva in Toronto completed an ambitious Talent Development / CSR Splash Project in adverse weather conditions for Eva’s Initiatives. In one day, they built a deck, gazebo, picnic tables and benches and some planters for the young people using the facilities.

Eva’s Phoenix provides shelter, transitional housing, and programming to help young people build brighter futures free of homelessness.

Elaine Belore of Eva’s Initiatives said “Splash were a true delight to work with!  They  genuinely listened to our needs and incorporated the ideas of staff and residents into the design of the project.    While on site, they made a concerted  effort not to interfere with the day to day operations of the shelter.   Outgoing, approachable, organized, hard working, with a great sense of humour… who could ask for a better team to work with??”

Revitalising play and reconnecting teams in Whitechapel

An early year’s playground at St Paul’s primary school in Whitechapel that caters for 55 three-to-five year olds was revitalised as part of a project by Splash Projects in November 2020. The area, which had play structures closed off by inspectors during the summer, is vital for the children who use it – with many living in nearby high rise flats with no alternative outdoor space. The need became even greater with Covid restrictions returning to the capital. The project also afforded data consultancy DTSQUARED an invaluable yet safe way of reconnecting with each other after months of working from home.
