The objective of the Return on Learning workshop is to take learning from a Splash Project back to the business with the aim of improving performance longer term. The participants reflect on behaviours seen during the project with a view to improving performance or change the culture.
The participants who took part in the project are invited to the Return on Learning workshop which usually takes place the day after the project completes. The workshop lasts approx. 2 – 3 hours and is often conducted in conjunction with an Organisational Behaviour expert or Business School faculty member.
Whilst these workshops seem similar to the After Action Review, they are considerably longer which allows for a deep dive discussion into how the project went in order to learn from mistakes and improve longer term.
The skills covered include:
- Governance / Leadership
- Project management
- Fundraising & Purchasing
- Problem solving
- Design and Innovation
- Risk and Control
- Stakeholder Management
- Handling VUCA.
Whilst the Return on Learning Workshop does come at an additional cost, the benefits of including it have been remarkable. Return on Learning Workshops have resulted in improved teamwork, better understanding of the corporate vision and values and better awareness of the overall strategy. Companies that have included a Return on Learning Workshop as part of their Splash Experience report that they more than recouped their investment.
The Return on Learning Workshop is delivered by one of our in-house Programme Managers, who will be a highly experienced leader well used to handling large groups and getting the very best out of staff. In addition, we often invite senior members of the client’s team (e.g. the Head of HR, the CEO or Division Head) to top and tail the Return on Learning session.
