David served in the Singapore Armed Forces for 12 years from May 1995 to July 2007. During time with the force, David participanted in numerous deployment overseas such as the 2004 Operation Flying Eagle, a humanitarian operation to support the recovery effort following the Boxing Day Tsunami. David was also was trained to operate, maintain and repair numerous vehicular platforms during his time with the Armed Forces.

Leaving the force after 12 years in July 2007, David started EDEN Learning School with the sole objective of providing new educational opportunities to boys who have difficulties engaging in main-stream schools. Between 2008 and 2013, the school has impacted 35 boys from 3 different schools.

David is also a certified behavioural and career consultant with the Institue of Motivational Living, USA. Between 2008 and 2013, David, together with Lifeskills Enrichment Singapore, conducted numerous leadership, team building, career guidance and motivational workshops for over 2000 students and teachers alike.

In 2013, David started working for Gracehaven Children’s Home, The Salvation Army Singapore as Operations Supervisor and oversaw 16 portfolios and became a qualified fire warden by the Singapore Fire Engineers Institute.

The following year David also went to Cambodia with SILOAM Singapore and helped to conduct leadership empowerment workshops for the local pastors and villagers.

In Chen Su Lan, he also worked as a program coordinator and has designed and ran programs such as Soft Skills development through plastic modelling and Fun with composting with great success.

David is also proficient in English,  Chinese,  Hokkien and TeoChew, and in his free time he enjoys building miniature models, carpentry and playing with his 7 children.
