Darren Clarke

Programme Facilitator - Africa Operations

Darren Clarke Splash Projects team

Darren runs Splash Projects’s African operations and he has lived in Africa for several years.

“Since I moved across the world, I’ve realised how things I took for granted during my upbringing in Devon – like the chance to receive a good education, take part in sport or even just to have access to running water or basic healthcare – aren’t always available to people in Africa. I’m keen to help Splash Project’s clients relieve some of these problems and leave a lasting impression”.

Darren has led projects around the world including delivering fresh water supplies to refugee camps in Iraq to constructing a school in the Belizian jungle.

Darren’s happy on land or on the water – he’s a commercial diving supervisor, RYA Coastal Skipper and Power Boat and VHF instructor, to name but a few of his qualifications. It was these skills that led him to teach underwater construction and survey techniques to the civil engineering and environmental science courses at the University of Plymouth.

That leads us to another of his passions – wildlife and the great outdoors, both British and African. He keeps himself fit by organising expeditions in the mountains of his adopted country, learning a great deal about its culture on the way.
