INSEAD MBA students complete the construction of a town-themed play fence in just four days!
The children of The Medical and Educational Institutes (IME) La Sittelle are delighted with their recent Splash Project build… an interactive, town-themed play fence that surrounds the charity’s outside space.
The project brief was to “remove the old disused cycle route and replace it with a new and engaging construction for the children to use”. Splash’s design team then designed an interactive, town-themed play fence which included: a hotel-shaped Connect Four and creative playspaces styled as a Café, Bakery, Bank, School & Garage.
The students of Class 19D were then tasked with building this entire play space in just four days as part of their introduction into the INSEAD MBA programme. So with 80 students on each day, the teams E6, E7, E8, E9 organised themselves into sub-teams and allocated tasks for each day during their planning exercise sessions.
As well as the students being challenged to build the outdoor space, they were also be challenged to make a film of the entire four day Splash Project. The media team for each day produced storyboards, interviewed students and stakeholders and assisted the edit of the project film under the supervision of the Splash Project Media Facilitator.
This Splash Project was being built for IME La Sittelle, a charity that accommodates disabled children and young adults with learning disabilities that range from personality disorders to motor and sensory conditions.
When asked about their Splash Project experience, the students replied with:
“Amazing, best thing I have done in my life”
“It was an amazing time to bond with my team while giving back to the community of Fontainebleau”
“Truly engaging activity”
“Highlight of Launch week! I think MBA students should spend more time outdoors with power tools and less time inside!”
“Really fun, great team building and the team (Splash) were super organised so we just could get on with the job”
This project was a huge success. Thank you to all of the students involved for their contribution, the charity are truly ecstatic with the final outcome and the children will enjoy with spaces for many years to come…
