A team from leading global company Bekaert is about to create a new outdoor sensory play area for children with special needs in Moultrie, Georgia, USA.
The company is undertaking the transformation in just one day at the Breathe Ministry, Heritage Church in the city. Bekaert’s annual sales conference is being held in the area and the company was keen to give something back to the local community during their stay.
The team of around 45 people will build a large-scale sensory walkway and play area – with the exact details revealed to them the evening before as part of a team-building and leadership experience which accompanies the build.
There is already an extensive range of indoor amenities for the children of the Breathe Ministry, but this is the first time they will have had anything outdoors to enjoy.
Breathe is a ministry established specifically for people with disabilities and is a part of the Heritage Church in Moultrie. It began in 2011 and now offers a range of services to support families across South Georgia.
“Bekaert has been coming to Moultrie, GA participating in the Sunbelt Expo for over 15 years now, so we have a special attachment to the town. This year we decided to have our Annual National Sales Meeting in Moultrie and in doing so it presented a unique opportunity for Bekaert Corporation to give back to the community in a meaningful way. While we are excited about the project and its local impact, I’m also certain that our Bekaert team members will each take away something from the event very special themselves, that is one of the great things about giving back- often times we gain more than we give.” said Jason Jones, Sales Director.
The build is being overseen by Splash Projects, a company which specialises in delivering leadership and team-building training whilst creating large-scale facilities which benefit community and charity projects.
“This is a brilliant project which will make a genuine difference to the children of the Breathe Ministry and we can’t wait to get the build underway with Bekaert,” said Simon Poole, Splash’s Managing Director. “Knowing they are helping to transform lives always drives participants to do the best they can and I know the Bekaert team will rise to the challenge to deliver for the people of Moultrie.”
Bekaert, which is a producer of agricultural fencing and fencing products, already has a long association with Moultrie as it exhibits at the annual Sunbelt Agricultural Expo.
